First we have the definition, media is a noun:
1. a plural of medium.
2. the means of communication, as radio and television,newspapers, and magazines, that reach or influence people widely;
It’s not that I didn’t know how to explain the term, but sometimes it’s just reassuring to have a confirmation. I was invited to this event, and I am very eager to share with you what will happen there, since Evensys tends to make great events.
I consider myself very lucky to be part of a generation that took the best of the media development and its channels. Although the definition is merely restricted to a few of the channels, nowadays facebook is recognized as one of the most popular communication channels. I won’t talk about facebook, since I am no expert, but in my opinion the social media has brought us closer, to each other and to information. Leaving aside the aspects of invasion of privacy, we are social beings and having access to all these channels makes life so much easier. And most important of all is the paradox that we are permanently connected, and still all this flood of info creates a feeling of independence, of freedom. We are the masters of our own future, we have the means, we have the brains for it, we are actually living the future imagined by George Lucas. He was a visionary, but new times, call for new models. That’s why I will attend the Future of Media conference!
I will leave you with one of my favorite personalities of our times, Jason Silva, performance philosopher.
